In case you're wondering what 272 empty paint tubes looks like...

empty tubes

272 empty paint tubes. Sent to us by an online angel.

Every now and then it makes sense to mix up color in bulk. Paint mixtures can be complex and sometimes it's tedious having to remix a particular color over and over while working on a painting. Where a large amount of color in the same hue family is required (in drapery or flesh tones for example) having paint mixed in advance can be a huge time saver and helps ensure consistency of color from session to session.

Hence, the tubes. If you're going to pre-mix lots of paint, you've got to have a way to store it, and tubes do the job well. We found a guardian angel online who slipped us a box of these babies that are just begging to be filled with color. We've got some mixing to do!

"Drawing Board" is a window on the day-to-day activities in the studio. Every few days we'll post work by instructors, class demonstrations, photos of classes in session and anything else that strikes our fancy to document what Vitruvian is all about.

Occasionally, small works will be available for sale via online auction as part of an ongoing fund-raising effort to keep the cost for our classes as low as possible. Works for sale will be accompanied by a direct link to the auction should you wish to place a bid. Thanks in advance, and happy viewing!
