Mouldmaking Basics
- Price: $175.00
- Number of Sessions: 4
This course is a follow-up to our Sculpture Basics course and discusses the oldest technique of formal mouldmaking: waste moulds. After preparing the clay sculptures for this process, students will follow a step by step technique of building a proper seam wall, applying a splash coat, building up each side of the mother mould, releasing the mould, preparing the print, and begin final casting of their sculptures. Making a waste mould, although being the oldest historical technique, is still the most common and widely used approach to making simple casts of sculpture today. A materials fee for this course will include both casting plaster and hydrocal, soap, shims, and chisels.
